Leola Ambulance Association
Announcement to our Ambulance, Fire, Rescue and Police friends and neighbors around the county and state
During the early hours of February 16th, 2007 our Emergency Medical Service suffered the heart wrenching loss of our friend, our colleague and brother.
David Sauder, EMT, was responding to a Class 1 call when the vehicle he was riding in went out of control on ice covered roads. David sustained injuries that were non recoverable. He died as dedicated personnel and friends worked feverishly to save his life. We can only hope that it was because God needed a shift coved that he chose such a dedicated young man. Our loss is truly His gain.
As he makes his way beyond our world, he has left in our care a wife, four daughters and one baby son. Also, he has an extended family of brothers, parents and cousins, not to mention every man and women who he ever served with.
We are advising all Lancaster County (and beyond) emergency personnel that a viewing for David will be at his home, 159 East Main Street, Leola, PA on Sunday, February 18th at 14:00 hrs to 16:00 hrs, the again at 18:00 hrs to 20:00 hrs.
Parking will be limited at his home and attendees are advised to park at Brethren Church, about 100 yards to the west. It is also advised that you dress warmly as the expected line to get into the home will be long.
A funeral Service will be at Groffdale Plain (Frame) Church at 12:30 hrs. Use Map Quest with location Groffdale Mennonite Church, Groffdale Road, Leola, PA. Please, no flowers or emergency vehicles to the viewing or funeral
As an association, we have identified an urgent need for monetary and non-perishable food stuffs to keep this wonderful, but hurt, family going until relief funds are obtained. We are doing everything we can, but this relief can take weeks or months. Please do what you or your association/fire company/police force can do to help. Donations can be made directly to Leola Ambulance Association by making your check payable to Leola Ambulance. On the “memo” line please write “Sauder Family”. Every cent will go directly to the family for food and immediate bills and needs. Non-perishable items can be dropped at our station.
